چکیده

Abstract Tons of waste is produced during iron steel’s industrial production, creating environmental pollution. This work aims to characterize the steel scale formed on billet surface last step production in SIDERPERU plant. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) shows stacked layers one above other billets scales surface. Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) and Fluorescence (XRF) reveal high content Fe O, with Ca, Si, Mn, Cr as minority elemental compounds. Diffraction (XRD) FeO, ?-Fe 2 O 3 4 crystallographic phases. Magnetometry reveals Verwey transition paramagnetic signals that screen Morin transition. Mössbauer Spectroscopy at room temperature displays magnetic non-magnetic parts. The part has hyperfine parameters corresponding predominant nonstoichiometric wustite. Octahedral (Fe +2 /Fe 3+ ) tetrahedral +3 fields 46.0 49.4 T values respectively are associated magnetite another sextet a field 52.0 related hematite.

Continuous Casting of Steel

Continuous casting is used to solidify most of the 750 million tons of steel produced in the world every year. Like most commercial processes, continuous casting involves many complex interacting phenomena. Most previous advances have been based on empirical knowledge gained from experimentation with the process. To further optimize the design and improve the continuous casting process, mathema...

Solidification and thermal performance analysis of the low carbon steel during the continuous casting process

The present paper evaluates the effect of the nozzle characteristics on the heat transfer and phase change of the low carbon steel during the continuous casting process. A three-dimensional energy equation and a solidification model are used to drive the governing equation of the phase change and temperature distribution. A linear relation is obtained to predict the temperature-dependent of the...

Mathematical Modeling of Heat Transfer for Steel Continuous Casting Process

Heat transfer mechanisms and the solidification process are simulated for a continuous casting machine and the geometric shape of the liquid pool is predicted considering different conditions. A heat transfer and solidification model is described for the continuous casting of steel slabs. The model has been established on the basis of the technical conditions of the slab caster in the con...

Physical Modeling of Steel Delivery during Thin Slab Continuous Casting

A full scale physical model of a thin slab caster with a four-hole design submerged entry nozzle (SEN) was constructed. On the basis of the dimensionless Reynolds and Froude similitude criteria, the fluid flow in a full-scale model is similar to that of the actual system and, hence, the data obtained from the water model can be applied to the actual system. In order to determine the optimum ope...

Mathematical Simulation for the Effects of Flow Control Devices in a Six- strand Tundish in Continuous Casting of Steel Billet

The method of continuous casting of steel is now often used in the metallurgical industry, due to the increasing demand for the production of high – quality steel. An important device of continuous casting machine is the tundish, in which a stabilized steel flow has a crucial effect on the quality and efficiency conditions of the continuous casting process. In this study fluid flows in a six – ...
